PHP5: Fully Supported
PHP5 went live in 2004. The new version of the programming language offered significant performance enhancements, better support for MySQL databases, and support for object oriented programming(OOP). Using suPHP, Idologic is able to provide a stable and secure PHP scripting environment with PHP5 as the default version. As PHP5 transitions from the development phase, Idologic supports multiple versions for maximum compatibility. We can do this by providing you the developer with the ability to use a different PHP version per directory. This is accomplished through adding a single line to an .htaccess file.
Idologic currently supports PHP 5.2.x and PHP 5.3.x.
PHP4: Legacy Support
Idologic's servers no longer run PHP 4.4.x by default. PHP 4 was first released in 2000 and has since reached the End of Life(EOL) stage as of 08/08/08. Many scripts that our customers used depended on PHP4 for a long time. We also understand that many of our customers need time to bring their long-hosted scripts with us in to line with the changes in PHP5. However, it is very important that PHP4 only be used for legacy purposes, as there will be no critical updates should a flaw be found. Besides, PHP5 introduces many new and practical features.
Ruby on Rails: Fully Supported
Ruby on Rails is a relatively new, open source web application framework that is based on the ever popular Ruby programming language. It was first released as open source in 2004. Since then, Ruby on Rails's popularity has skyrocketed because it is billed as an easy to use yet dynamic programming framework. Idologic supports Ruby on Rails and offers integration with both cPanel and DirectAdmin.
